Art Education and a New Visual Cultural Literacy

It envisions producing new knowledge, promoting art education among the art worlds and beyond, and creating a novel visual cultural literacy among the new audience, viewers and larger public. It will achieve its objective through various forms of cultural engagement like curatorial endeavours, art workshops, art exhibitions, display, publications, and different forms of art education and outreaching programmes.

Interactive Interface of Creative Mediums

This programme intends to create a new aesthetic experience at the interface of different creative mediums. “REVISION RELATIONSHIP”, was a curatorial endeavour by Dr. Rajashree Biswal, which was conceptualized to conjoin the parallel visual-literary engagement of artist Birendra Pani and poet Jayanta Mahapatra. It ensued a new aesthetic experience pertaining to the rich tradition and culture; land and landscape; and history, memory and cultural identity of Odisha at the interface of visual and literary text across time and space. Moreover, it linked the readers and viewers of literary and visual text. This exhibition by New Bridge India in association with Forum on Contemporary Theory, Vadodara and Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, and supported by Sarat Chandra Library, Baripada happened at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack in December 2015.

Towards a New Viewers and Audience and ‘Reproduction Aesthetics’

New Bridge India foresees ‘reproduction aesthetics’ (as conceptualized by Dr. Rajashree Biswal), as a significant strategy to create a new viewers and audience and for a novel visual experience of art. With the long term display of the ‘reproduction’ of contemporary art works in the newly built Seminar Hall of North Orissa University at Baripada, it has been transformed into a contemporary art gallery in May 2016.

Documentation and Research Programme

The objective is to promote research and documentation of various art and cultural forms ranging from modern and contemporary art practice, to folk and tribal art forms and the performance dance traditions starting with the diverse and rich cultural forms of Odisha through research projects, archives, video and digital documentation, printing and dissemination of knowledge. Voice of the Earth, a Documentary Film on Artist Ananta Panda was made by NEW BRIDGE INDIA and was screened at Lalit Kala Akademi, Bhubaneswar, in February 2017.
